Mbps and Migraines

I finally have a wireless network router set-up on dads broadband which is projecting 54 Mbps of connectivity around the house. This post is brought to you by the marvel of 'ZeeNet' wifi. It is supposedly able to be set up by your average-joe type within 3 minutes, I however am not that joe and it took me 15 minutes, I refuse to feel bad about this as I got a call from my one and only "tech support" customer who needs some help with their internet connection and I am going round to help later on. *squee*
My headache/migraine nastiness has not departed this time like it has since I started having them. Usually I get uptight and stressed out, then as I relax or come down from that stress I get a migraine. I take magic pink pills (which offset the deathness) and all is well again.
My migraines can consist of any combination of the following:
tingly/numb arms
barcode tunnel kaleidscope vision
black and white harlequin vision where I can't see anything else.
headache
vomitting
diarrhoea
the throwing up also gives me really painful ribs, the actual act of the vom stresses all my intercostal muscles which then makes breathing painful.
After I left
nutter4 and
probetech last night, I drove home, the trip was fine apart from the thumb and forearm of my left arm going numb occasionally, but by the time I got home my head was thumping and my field of vision was starting to narrow. I'm sorry to say that I did throw up the very lovely meal that I had before I left and it continued to escalate through the night.
I got up and went to work this morning, head was still thumping, but everything else had normalised (apart from the breathing pain which I can't do anything about) I sat down and started work, a bit dopey, and didn't get onto my schedule until half an hour after I started....only to find that today was my shift day off anyway :( So I left and I will get half an hours overtime pay for it. I may not go in tomorrow either.
Since I was able to leave early, I called the doctor and asked if there was a way I could get an urgent appointment for this morning. I saw Doc DeVilliers who gave me a shot in the arse which he said will last for 24 hours and help the various symptoms (the headache has dulled amazingly) but he doesn't want to put me on an actual course of anything until we get the headset issue at work sorted, so I am going back every other day before work to get the shot in the arse which should keep me sane for a while.
We talked quite a lot about this, Doc DeVilliers is actually mums doctor as well and I told him about her migraines which started being fairly constant in her mid-thirties and was cited as a possible cause of her epilepsy. He said that it is quite common if you experience a concentration of migraines and treat the symptoms rather than the cause for any length of time, it can create scar tissue which can then later lead to epilepsy. I'm not mad keen on that idea, but having spoken to the Doc and then to my own doctor by phone later on this morning they do have a couse of treatment involving a derivative of sildenafil (vasodilator) which I could use for a while (although I then couldn't take viagra for my erectile dysfunction, aww shucks !!) which would help, but I don't want to be stuck on it for any length of time.
Anyway, I am feeling a bit tired and spaced, which is a side-effect of the jab, however it is infinitely preferable to the alternatives etc.
Interestingly, Beth called today to say that she ended up having to go to her doctor this afternoon since she's been having migraines on and off for the past couple of days and since Simon is away tonight and she'll be home alone with the boys she needed something stronger than the Migraleve. Co-inky-dink?? I think not.
For now though, have battled technology and won, so now need tea.

Date: 2007-02-21 05:24 pm (UTC)The shots in the arse are not TMI but sound rather painful, particularly as you have to work sitting down. Still, at least they're actively looking at options to stop things getting worse.
The thing with your sister - I do wonder if it is weather related, because a front went over this morning. If you like, I'll start keeping an eye on the Met Office site, and track fronts and pressures; Paul's not been too well today either, though I don't know if that's related.

Date: 2007-02-21 05:31 pm (UTC)The bum shots aren't too bad, it's pretty fleshy around there so it's not too painful and I suppose you get to a point where a bit of a pain in the bum is preferable in comparrison.
I hope Paul's alright, give him huggles from me, it certainly sounds like it's something in the air.
Love you
