"Brrr, it's a bit chilly"

...
Much goodier day yesterday, heart broken J is back and I handed back a large portion of my 'to do' list to her. I spent yesterday getting up to date on most everything else, even (shock, horror) booking travel and accomodation well in advance!!! (Try not to faint)
Last night I got a text on the way home from K saying the boiler had conked out so there was no heat or hot water until Friday. I'm not particularly bothered by that, I can easily shower at work (one of the advantages to working for the "Worlds Largest Swimwear Brand") and I wrapped up well against the cold.
Fortunately it wasn't the middle of winter (although measured at a staggering 1 degree) so I made hot lasagne, and buckets of hot tea (times like this I wish I had my tigger mug) got into bed with my shawl on, and was fine.
Before all this, I turned on the computer to engage in some mindless sudoku playing, look up village houses for sale around here and chat with
forest and anyone else online. I started up the computer, but it didn't activate the monitor screen, no idea why.
I turned it off, waited a bit, turned it back on again, the screen activated but the mouse pointer disappeared and the keyboard wouldn't work. Turned it off, waited again, this time no monitor, turned off and on again (with obligatory waiting period) monitor on, mouse and keyboard working..Hurrah!!
Or so I thought. 'Pooter went through start-up, MSN started (I ended up turning off the automagic start-up because it annoys me) then once start-up was complete, it froze solid, wouldn't move, keyboard not working (wouldn't even let me turn off the numlock) mouse pointer frozen, nothing. I have little patience for computers, so I went back into turn off - wait- turn back on again, no monitor.. GRR!!!
One more try, turned it on again (waiting period blah, blah) monitor came on Hurrah! Had mouse and keyboard control during start up Hurrah! Start up ended, whole thing froze ARSE, FECK, TITS!!
Turned it off, taking it back to the Doc at the wkend. Made tea, read book in bed!! Very good book, a Bill Napier book about cold war spies and ZPE (which I am at this morning) and the power contained in a vacuum if one could only harness it. I like books that assume a certain level of geekness in their reader :o)
This morning I have come into work with all my stuff to shower tonight, and found a brand new keyboard on my desk! John is the best, I was complaining about my space bar issues and the way my buttons were switched about (when you held down shift for an '@' you got a '£' instead) so he's left me a new one..Yippee!!
Coldness has continued this morning, bedroom very cold, got dressed in cold clothes, came to work, coffee machine is self-cleaning *grumble* I think I will be at ZPE for the rest of the day.
And finally, todays amusing spam:
"Love is ramming, she will be instantly geeked by your immeasurable rod!!"
Wow, what poetry :o)
