Hectic coupe of days, finished work Wednesday night at 8pm, but had to stay an extra half hour to wrap up some things I couldn't leave unfinished until I got back. I got a bottle of wine and some borders vouchers in a presentation for my compliance review and did quite a lot of business, so all in all a good last day.
Thursday I had an early start but got a lot done. I did most of the cleaning in the morning, except the kitchen and 3rd bedroom (and mine, but that's waiting a few extra days) then showered and changed before we went off to meet AKay and Alex. They are staying at the Cold Harbour Premier Inn which is only a stones throw from us, so we picked them up and took them to lechlade for the afternoon. It was a nice day, so we wandered along the river looking at the barges, then visited Dads antiques unit in the arcade and walked to the trout hatchery. We all drove to Beths and spent a couple of hours drinking tea, talking, and helping Freddie get his balance, he's so ready to start walking, just doesn't have the co-ordination quite yet.
We dropped them back off at the Cold Harbour and came home to change, before meeting them back there again for dinner. A very enjoyable meal, everyone had a laugh and a drink (apart from miss designated driver :)) and then we said our goodbyes and came home. I think today they are going to Avebury and Buscot Park before they go to Reading tomorrow to spend a couple of days with JimBob.
I was late in bed and a bit doolally before I fell asleep, which led to some interesting dreams. As usual after that kind of night I am up this morning with a feeling of "unreality" not quite sure that I'm awake. Everything is dead quiet, no emails to read/reply to, nothing much happening on the groups I read and too distracted to sew (although, that's what I should be doing) so I'm aimlessly looking up music from my yoof on youtube which is at least keeping me from getting packed ready to go to Beths for the weekend (ahh, procrastination!!)
Tonight is families night at the officers mess, so Beth, Si and I are going, they have a place to drop the older kids off, a massive sleepover for Alex which he will love, Freddie is staying home with one of the local sitter-circle. I'm meeting up with the guy who is my 'date' for the summer ball, Si has fixed me up with one of his JEngOs who is "fun, has a good sense of humour, can dance and isn't a complete asshole." Chances are we'll be getting thrown out of a curry house in the wee smalls, and I'll be up with Freddie for the 5am feed, but it's fine, I don't do hang over so I'll be in a better position than either of the other 2.
Saturday is families day at the squadron so we're all going to that as well and taking the boys, Alex will get to sit in "one of daddy's Tristars" which he's been looking forward to since they moved, and we'll be meeting my 'date' there for the day as well, apparently so we can get to know each other a bit better (sober) before the ball.
Sunday I am taking Alex to the Cotswold wildlife park for the day, just a day out with his Auntie Amy, I can run his little legs off and we'll see lots of animals he hasn't seen before which should be fun. We'll also be doing brass rubbing and calligraphy, although I'm not sure he has the patience for that yet.
A fun-filled, packed weekend, but with plenty of work and activity, Beth has a couple of household projects she wants help with and Simon is looking forward to them both getting a lie-in Sunday morning while I sort out the boys.
