...
Well, I've finally had the chance to sit and write a bit. Today 2 of my 3 are off-site for the day and the 3rd is in a meeting just about all day. I have Galvatron on my computer keeping me working hard, my new coffee cup full of coffee and a "to do" list which is looking suspiciously like a "done" list.
Ok, so, my new job is "Business Assistant" and my role is to be PA to 3 of the Worldwide Heads at Speedo. There are 6 in total and my counterpart Jennie looks after the other 3. My "Big 3" are:
Jason - WWH of Aqualab (the scientific research bit)
Vanessa - WWH of Footwear
Sean - WWH of Equipment
I do their expenses, organise meetings, deal with travel and accomodation arrangements, manage diaries and email, sort out post and generally all the little stuff that goes along with. I am also responsible for the admin support of their teams, doing expenses, travel arrangements etc.
They are a nice bunch, the Big 3 are all really nice and really value the help, they've been a bit short-changed while Nicola has been working for them because she's had so much else to do, but now they have a dedicated person they are all happy and we seem to be settling into a sort of routine.
I'll get together with them once a week to run through anything I need input on, sort out their filing and expenses and just generally catch-up. There are always a million and 1 little things going on that I will eventually need to get involved with, but for now I just concentrate on getting up to my knees in my role.
On the house front I am finally getting to feel more at home, this is my second week and I have noticed that Kiran tends to work quite late up in the office (unless she has evening plans) and just as she comes down and starts getting food and relaxing for the evening I'm settling down ready for bed, so we're not getting to spend much time together, but we do chat quite often in passing and she's nice, so I imagine it will change. I have mostly been reading in the evenings, I am stuck well into a book that I am enjoying and time passes quickly.
Odd thing of note, during the week I don't seem to dream at night, or if I do I don't remember them. This is quite strange for me, but this is the second week and after a dream-filled weekend I have noticed that I didn't again last night, I doubt there's anything in it, but it's odd.
Weekend was good, I spent Friday night with Garry which is always fun. Saturday we got up at a fairly early-ish time (for him) and had breakfast before we hit the road. Garry went off to his mums for mothers day, had lunch on Saturday and came home again Sunday afternoon. I went to Pauls in Bracknell Saturday, we did a bit of shopping, he made lovely lunch, then we went for a walk in Bracknell woods, he let me choose the route so of course we got lost, but it was really nice to have the time to just chat as we walked. By the time we found our way back to the car we were both knackered and footsore so we ditched the cinema trip, I made enchiladas for dinner and we watched DVD's instead.
I drove back to mum and dads, arriving at about 1am, got up Mothers day/Dad's 60th Birthday and started decorating the house when dad went car-booting. Decorations were done by the time he got back and he loved them, then when Beth & Si arrived Simon and I went off to collect the food. The Sainsburys party food platters were really nice, the food was tasty and had accountrements (sp?) like dips, and lime and lemon for the chicken bits, ot very expensive and highly recommended. Guests arrived at 11am, we had tea and then presents. Dad was completely blown away by his present; tickets for the British Grand Prix in July, but he also got a copy of the application form for a bus pass which gave us all a laugh.
There was general eating and chatting until about 5pm when people started to leave. I did a bit of un-decorating and clearing up of left overs and washing up etc. I left about 6:30pm-ish, went to the new co-op and did a bit of shopping then drove back home to Garrys. We watched "Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl" on DVD while we ate very tasty homemade lasagne and garlic bread.
Monday morning, Garry got up and brought me coffee and marmite-toast in bed, given the way he feels about mornings and given that his alarm won't usually go off before 8am on a Monday (because earlier than that doesn't exist!) this is a really big huge thing and I remain honoured!
Anyway, I'd better get on with hunting down flights to Asia.
