I have my car back !!!!!
The speedo works and everything!!!!
Extensive use of exclamation marks noted and will cease immediatly.
Dr Mike at Willards managed to get it back to great working order again for the meagre fee of $275, it now has Scooby floor mats and a Banana custard air freshener (whoo-hoo) The slight problem was that one of the bits of the speedo we thought had dropped off in the carpark at the Metra where the vandalism occurred had actually fallen and got jammed in the gearbox.
Dr Mike had to strip down the gearbox to remove the offending part, then hunt around for a newer version. After we picked it up from the garage we took the car (doesn't have a name yet, but we know she's a 'she') to the petrol station and filled her up with yummy juice, then took her home and disconnected the battery so we could reconnect it and get the computer to re-set the engine idle.
I took the handbrake apart and tightened it significantly, the car still can't hold her own weight downhill so there is still tightening to be done, but it's a good start and we can now park her in a carpark without worrying about her rolling away!!
Work was fun, I get to play with something new again tomorrow, I have to say I'm really enjoying myself, the work is varied and feels slightly juvenile and not at all like a "proper job," after all I haven't seen anyone playing in dirt as much as I do since the last time my two 18 month old nephews came to visit.
I'm going to tush my breeth and snuggle my hubby in bed. He's all happy because a whole ton of his figures ordered from ebay showed up today so he's been happily cataloguing (sp?) and sorting this evening.
Love Z xx
